The 40 Year Old Virgin is two hours of non-stop laughs (or 4 hours if you see it twice like I did), a perfect supporting cast and great leads charm the audience through the entire movie.
The script was perfect with so many great lines that you will want to see the movie again just to try to remember them all.
"They thought Steve Carell looked like a serial killer," he said.
"They thought Paul Rudd was fat," added Leslie Mann, Apatow's wife. "If you look at Paul Rudd in the speed-dating sequence compared to the rest, he's, like, ten pounds heavier.
The men give Andy different and sometimes contradictory advice, both on his appearance and how to interact with women.
Cal advises Andy to simply "ask questions," which he practices on bookstore clerk Beth (Elizabeth Banks), who quickly becomes intrigued by him.
Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) is a 40-year-old virgin who lives alone, his apartment filled with his collection of action figures and video games.
At a poker game with his co-workers David (Paul Rudd), Cal (Seth Rogen), Mooj (Gerry Bednob), and Jay (Romany Malco), when conversation turns to past sexual exploits, the group learns that Andy is still a virgin, and resolve to help him lose his virginity.
"Everything we shot in those first two days became some of the funniest stuff in the movie," Apatow said.
Apatow's book, "Sick in The Head," is available now and features 32 years worth of his interviews with famous comedians — from Jerry Seinfeld in 1983, when Apatow was "just a 15-year-old kid with a tape recorder," to Jimmy Fallon in 2015.
Store manager Paula (Jane Lynch) promotes Andy to fill in for him.
